The foundation for my work is based on the Person-Centred approach. This means that I practice from the core belief that given the right therapeutic relationship, everyone has the innate capability to heal and change from within. I believe that you are the expert on you!
I will dedicate myself to experiencing your world as you see it. I offer an empathetic and non-judgemental nature where you will feel fully heard, understood, and accepted without the worry of judgment, fear, or rejection.
As our relationship develops you will feel confident to explore your emotions and feelings in as much depth as you choose.
By creating a safe environment and trusting relationship, you will feel empowered to identify, explore and possibly challenge past experiences and beliefs that have impacted the way you feel about yourself today.
I also use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) alongside the Person-Centred approach. This is particularly useful for clients who find themselves caught in negative or unhelpful ways of thinking.
CBT helps clients become aware of their unhealthy thinking patterns and start to link their situations to their moods, thoughts and behaviours.
Working through stages we change these ways of thinking to more realistic and helpful ones, which will then have a positive impact on your behaviour and thoughts.
During your sessions, you will be able to trust your own judgment and live your life in line with your own core values and beliefs, rather than those that belong to others or what we think is expected of us.
My professional background and training means I can draw from various therapeutic approaches including mindfulness and creative therapy to ensure you get the most out of counselling.
